CAREER HISTORY
1989 - 1991
Joined BOOGERTMAN KRIGE BLIGNAUT ARCHITECTS (PTY) LTD. as the first full-time architect employed in their then new Johannesburg office. Wynand worked as an architect in training between 1989 and 1990 on a variety of projects including residential, healthcare, industrial and retail. Experience was gained in all aspects of the architectural profession from design and working drawings to contract administration, local authority approval procedures and general office management. During this phase Wynand became fully versed in the use of advanced computer based architectural design and documentation software, which were developed in-house by the company at the time.

1990 - 1993
Became more involved in the conceptualisation and detail design of new projects as well as resolving technical detail issues. Gained substantial experience in the industrial field and helped develop the mini-factory industrial park concept which became highly favoured by institutional investors. Developed innovative solutions for natural-and fire ventilation problems in such industrial buildings. Completed practical training and passed board exam. Registered with the Institute of South African Architects and the South African Council of Architects.

1993 - 1995
Developed commercial design skills on a variety of projects and acted as project architect on noteworthy appointments including industrial, retail and corporate office developments. Formed part of the design team that pioneered themed office parks.

Appointed Associate in the Johannesburg office of Boogertman Krige Blignaut Architects (Pty) Ltd. Projects overseen include CDSA Head Office in Richmond: an 8000m² office park for Absa in Parktown, and a Public Transport and Taxi based retail Centre in Rustenburg: which handles up to 10 000 commutes per day.

1995 - 1999
Appointed as Director of Boogertman Krige Architects (Pty) Ltd.

Serves as senior design architect and team leader on several sizeable commercial and retail projects.Became intricately involved in client liaison and conseptualisation of new work.

Handled several multi-million Rand projects as project architect from inception to completion including all aspects of contract administration. Projects include: 12000m² Office Park for Sanlam in Port Elizabeth; 9000m² Regional Head Office for Telkom in Bloemfontein; and 30000m² regional Value Mart in Edenvale.

1999 - 2003
Director and Shareholder of Boogertman Krige Architects (Pty) Ltd.

Served the commercial property development market in Johannesburg as principal and/or project architect on a multitude of projects, including noteworthy office park and corporate office developments including the African Head Office for Citibank. Gained extensive experience in the design of modern multi-purpose stadia through involvement as Principal Architect in the design of a new 55000 seat stadium in Midrand and was involved in the initial design for the upgrading of the FNB soccer stadium to FIFA World Cup standards.

2003 - Present
Resigned as Director of Boogertman Krige Architects (Pty) Ltd. Started the Gauteng practice in Johannesburg under the name dbm Architects (Jhb). Act as company principal and design/project architect on numerous projects (Ref. dbm project list).

    • Citibank,Tanzania Office, Dar Es Salaam (2001) Designed preferred proposal.
    • Luanda Sports Complex, Angola (2001) Design consultant for Tilca on new 50000 seat stadium.
    • Accra Mall, Ghana (2002) Design proposal for 20000m² shopping mall in Accra.
  • Commercial & Corporate Office projects
    • Citibank, Sandton (2001/2002) Winning design for new 12500m² Head Office building - act as principal architect from original client's brief to final completion; co-ordination of all aspects of extremely sophisticated services and technology.
    • Fourways Golf Park (2000 - 2003) Develop concept for unique office park around a short-iron golf course with central lake and clubhouse. Total lettable area ±25000m². Help develop innovative stormwater harvesting system for self-sufficient golf course irrigation. Project receives certificate of merit from South African Property Owner's Association (S.A.P.O.A.) Responsible for all aspects of project including contract administration of all 13 buildings and tenant installations.
    • Absa Offices (2001) Design of 10000m² Office Park in Randpark area comprising three individual buildings for Absa Bank - acts as principal architect, contract administration and user installations.
    • Empire Park, Parktown (1997) 6000m² Hi-tech office park for Sanlam. Modernist architecture widely acclaimed and nominated for a Merit award.
    • Liberty Life Regional Office, Randburg (1996) Design and project architect on 6000m² corporate office building.
    • Sanlampark Office Park, Port Elizabeth (1995) Design architect and principal agent on 12000m² office park development comprising six individual buildings.
  • Sports Stadia
    • New Stadium, Midrand (2001) New 55000 seat stadium for Ellispark (Pty) Ltd in Midrand, Gauteng. Awarded commission to design and oversee the construction of a new multi-purpose stadium to comply with Greencode and FIFA requirements. Stadium design includes state-of-the-art facilities for spectators such as restaurants with a view of the playing field, supervised childcare, dedicated wheelchair viewing areas, in excess of a hundred luxury corporate suites and several hospitality areas. A stadium hospital and modern media center and VIP areas plus a commercial office and retail area also formed part of the design.
    • FNB Stadium, Gauteng (2001) Upgrade of existing FNB Stadium. Design proposal and feasibility exercise to upgrade existing stadium to FIFA standards as premier venue for possible World Cup matches.
  • Healthcare
    • Sandown Municipal Clinic, Sandton (2001) Design and oversee construction of new primary healthcare clinic in Sandton catering mainly for birth control and infant care as well as HIV patients. Specifically address issues such as ease of use, low maintenance and energy costs.
    • Fourways Intercare Clinic (2002 - 2003) Design and handle all administration aspects of this new 4000m² facility in Fourways. Brand new concept in integrated healthcare where virtually all medical disciplines are assembled under one roof.

    • Knightsbridge Industrial Village, Germiston (1997) Principal architect in charge of 60 mini-industrial units.
    • Mounties Distribution Centre and Offices, Florida (2002) New 5000m² central collection and distribution facility for Mounties, incorporating vehicle workshops and regional offices.
    • Tungsten Industrial Village, StrijdomPark (1994) Architect in charge of design and documentation of a market leading industrial park on very restricted site.
  • Retail & Exhibition
    • Buildex Exhibition Centre, Germiston (1994) Project architect for permanent building products exhibition center, builders merchant, office space and conference center in Sunnyrock, Germiston.
    • Rustenburg Transforum, Rustenburg (1994) Design and project architect on shopping center linked to public transport terminus and taxi rank catering for huge daily influx of commuters from outlying areas.
